Petrified Forest/ Painted Desert, Arizona

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Arizona for the wedding of one of my favorite cousins. (Always a cousin, never the groom, am I right?) Well we flew into Phoenix and drove from there to Snowflake. If you’ve never been to Snowflake then you’re missing out on one of the best thrift stores that I’ve ever been to, which is saying something. I needed a belt so I walked over to the thrift store and as I’m perusing the belts the clerk says, “clothes are 5 for a dollar today.” I looked at him dumbfounded for a few seconds and then had to repeat his statement as a question before I could believe him. So not only did I get a belt but I also got 4 of my new favorite shirts! The kicker is that I found out they only accept cash or check and I had neither, so my dad ended up paying the one dollar. So I came out like a champion.

But you didn’t come here to learn about my new clothes. Turns out we had about three hours between the luncheon and the reception so my parents and I loaded into the rental car and headed over to the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert. It was about an hour drive to the park which left us about an hour in the park. Not nearly enough time. We would jump out of the car whenever we saw something cool and then jump back in within five minutes each time. So with that disclaimer out of the way lets jump into the pics!

Painted Hills, OR

A few weekends ago, we loaded up into my roommate’s van and hit the open road for a 36 hour trip to see the Painted Hills. It seemed like every basic white instagrammer has posted a photo at this place in the last few weeks, so I felt it necessary to get over there and take some pics. Its a pretty fascinating sight but to be honest the Painted Hills portion of the John Day National Park was the least impressive part that we visited. Anyways here are a few of my favorite shots from the trip. Let me know what you think!

Box Canyon

On May 29th, 2017 three of my friends and I decided to do something pretty dumb yet amazing! We took a $40 raft from Walmart down Box Canyon outside of Wendell, ID. From our calculations there were probably some class two rapids but the river was so narrow that it made it quite technical. We flipped at least once and had people fall out at least a few other times. It was one of the best day trips of my life!
