A few weekends ago, we loaded up into my roommate’s van and hit the open road for a 36 hour trip to see the Painted Hills. It seemed like every basic white instagrammer has posted a photo at this place in the last few weeks, so I felt it necessary to get over there and take some pics. Its a pretty fascinating sight but to be honest the Painted Hills portion of the John Day National Park was the least impressive part that we visited. Anyways here are a few of my favorite shots from the trip. Let me know what you think!
That sure looks like a beautiful place, that last hill looks like a pyramid! Is it naturally formed or is there a story behind it?

From what I have read it’s formed naturally through millions of years. Each color is representative of another generation or time period. Pretty sweet place! They have similar formations in Peru (Rainbow Mountain) and also in Arizona (Painted Desert, post coming soon!).
